Midwest District Holds Fall Leadership Workshop

EAST PEORIA, IL. The Midwest District of the IAJHSC held their Fall Leadership Workshop at Riverview Grade School in East Peoria on October 20. Attending were the following member schools: Abingdon Middle School, Ingersoll Middle School, P.O.R.T.A. Junior High School, Washington Middle School, Midland Middle School, Hollis Grade School, Lewistown Central Grade School, Knoxville Junior High School, and, of course, the wonderful hosts Riverview Grade School. Also present at the workshop was a non-member school Holy Family of Peoria and the IAJHSC treasurer Mrs. Joann Murphy.

The attendees enjoyed a fun evening of activities that encouraged teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, and cooperation. The Midwest District Representative, Lydia Smith, opened and closed the general sessions and spoke to those present about camp, the chosen theme, and asked for contact names from each school. She encouraged anyone considering running for district rep to be sure to talk to her.

The evening closed with a short camp songfest led by J.C. Matt Dikeman who attended with Knoxville’s delegates as their junior advisor. Matt was the Midwest District Representative four years ago.

The Midwest District is looking forward to our next leadership workshop which will be hosted by Abingdon on Feb. 2, 2007. The pictures included feature some of the leadership activities and our newest member school Midland Middle School.
