Convention a Huge Success! Leadership Camp is Next!

Wow!  Convention was almost flawless!!  A very special thanks goes to the IAJHSC Executive Board and especially to the seven District Representatives who helped to make the 53rd annual IAJHSC State Convention a huge success.  There were 65 schools represented at convention with 978 total delegates attending.  Mr. Keith Hawkins was outstanding as he delivered his message calling for everyone to work hard to develop the leadership skills that are needed to carry us to success for generations to  come.  Mike Bliss and the Incredible Bliss Brothers were phenomenal as they amazed everyone with their feats of juggling, magic, and mind reading.  Our two service projects were once again very successful.  The Autism Society of Illinois received a check for over $21,000 and enough pop tabs were donated to contribute $1,677.50 to the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield.  By the way, that amounts to 4,250,780 tabs!

I would like to extend a very special, heartfelt congratulations to the outgoing District Representatives.  They worked very hard to make sure that they put on a convention that was professional and worthy of remembrance for all who attended.  Megan Schafer, Ethan Hoffman, Billy Marchese, Kellie Flavin, Fiona Sheridan, Miguel Sanchez, and Jay Niebrugge were wonderful District Representatives.  Hopefully, our entire membership is as proud of them as I am.

Congratuations go to our new District Representatives ~ Connor Call, Skylar Bumgardner, Emmie Herrmann, Laura Harris, Cheyenne Moore, Abby Steinberg, Mary Claire Wegman, and Melanie Kulig.  Congratulations also go to Ms. Mary Sharp, Mrs. Luann Kuehn, Ms. Bridget O’Brien, and Mr. Rob Mangrum for their re-election to their district’s Adult Director position for a two-year term.  We are still looking for someone in the Southeast District to step up and fill the remainer of the Adult Directior term there.

Now that convention is done for another year, it is time to look forward to the summer and the IAJHSC Summer Leadership Camp.  All the details and the online registration form can be found here on our website.  If you are sending delegates to camp, you must complete the online registration by May 11th.  The bills for registration fees will go out on May 14th via email.  Final payments are due by May 25th.  Mailings with information about camp will go out to all paid delegates on May 29th.  Don’t delay … Get your student council members signed up for this fantastic leadership experience now!
